Slow Start Expected For Recreational Stores in BC

With October 17th right around the corner, Canadians are gearing up to buy legal weed, but the roll out of recreational stores might be off to a slow start.

The province of British Columbia will only have one store to begin with located in Kamloops, with more than 100 soon to follow.

Eventually an online platform will be launched that will allow users to order cannabis products to their door. It is unclear at this time if the online merchant is a subsidiary of Namaste Technologies.

According to officials, the Community Safety Unit will target rogue retail locations operating without permission, and issue fines proportionate to the amount of cannabis confiscated. The Community Safety Unit will also target those contributing to minors or driving while under the influence of cannabis.
